Asian pop star Rain won his first TV music chart award since coming back to the K-pop scene with his new album.
Rain performed “30 Sexy” on Mnet’s “M Countdown” TV show on Jan. 9. Other performers included TVXQ, Girl’s Day, Dal Shabet, Tasty, HISTORY, VIXX and The Boss.
In the end, Rain beat MC the Max to win his first trophy for his new album.
“30 Sexy” is one of Rain’s two title tracks from “Rain Effect.”
The new album is his first since 2010. It is his comeback project since he was discharged from the military last July, where he served for 21 months to fulfill his mandatory duties as a citizen of South Korea.
Rain’s comeback is one of the most anticipated by fans as he was absent from the entertainment scene for nearly two years due to his military service.
His last album was “Back to the Basic,” which was released in April 2010.
Music videos for “30 Sexy” and “La Song” were also uploaded on YouTube.
On Rain’s reality TV show “Rain Effect” on Mnet, the pop star said he would always visit his mom’s burial place whenever a new album came out .
“I always go visit her when my album comes out. I asked for her help on the success of this album too. I also asked her to help me fight through all the difficulties and be able to do my best,” said Rain, according to ENewsWorld.
He said he regrets that he never got the chance to buy her food or clothing.
“My wish was to do something nice for her with my own money. My biggest regret in life is that I never got the chance to buy her a meal or a piece of clothing. I envy the people whose mothers are alive,” he said on the show.
Rain’s mother passed away in 2000 before he became a star.
Besides the album, Rain will be in the Hollywood film “The Prince,” which stars Bruce Willis and Jason Patric.(Jonathan M. Hicap/mb.com.ph)
