PATRONS of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) will notice that the “Shake, Rattle, & Roll” franchise is missing from this year’s entries. A big surprise since the iconic series has been a staple in the festival for the past decade and a half.
But not to fret, Regal Matriarch Lily Monteverde, the woman behind the success of SRR over the years, made sure that fans of the horror-suspense genre will have their anticipated good scare for this year’s fest. For the second time, she teamed up with Star Cinema and brings “Pagpag, Siyam na Buhay,” similar to the SRR series, but instead of focusing on multiple storylines, it only has one but just as stars-packed as its “predecessor.”
“Pagpag,” features hit love team Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.
“Doing the movie was exciting, but it I was so tiring that I ended up with a hoarse voice,” said Bernardo.
“Pagpag” is the first horror starrer for KathNeil. Aside from them, “Pagpag” also stars Paulo Avelino, Shaina Magdayao, Matet De Leon, Miles Ocampo, Dominic Roque, CJ Navato, Michelle Vito, Janus Del Prado, and Marvin Yap.
Directed by Franco Santos-Mortiz, Pagpag is about nine superstitious beliefs about wakes.
“Pagpag, Siyam na Buhay,” opens nationwide in more than 100 theaters in Dec. 25, Christmas Day.
