Newly crowned Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago revealed that her second selfie with President Benigno Aquino III during her recent courtesy call at the Palance “was actually a dare.”
“Of my PR, sa Binibini, kasi she was like, ‘If I did it, why can’t you?’ Okay, I was like, ‘No, I’m gonna do this,’ then, I just did it,” Bea related in the “Ikaw Na!” segment of “Bandila” on Thursday.
As for asking permission to shoot the photo, the fashion model-turned-beauty queen laughingly answered, “Medyo, pero diretso na, so parang, ‘Wala ka nang magagawa (Mr. President)!’”
Bea took her first selfie with the President when the two met at the ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit in Tokyo, Japan, last Dec. 12, a week before she was crowned Miss International 2013.
At the meeting, she shared having a long conversation with the president, “And it was mostly about Tacloban, kasi I wanted to go, and also about the time that he visited Tokyo, what was the purpose.”
Bea even had the chance to talk about some of the tasks of the country’s chief executive, an experience she described as “overwhelming.”
“He showed me a book of what he does every day, kasi I said na the UN (United Nations) is my dream job, so he said, ‘Okay. So, you need to listen to a lot of speech(es), and you need to read a lot of the speech of people.’ So I had a chance to actually look at some (speeches),” she narrated. (Pau Aguilera/mb.com.ph)
