‘Kimmy Dora’ prequel is third and last

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH – The third and the last. Enough is enough.

That is Eugene Domingo’s definite statement as regards to “Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel,” an entry to the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival.

What if the prequel turned out to be a blockbuster as the original and sequel were?

“Kahit pa,” says Eugene, adding the creative team behind “Kimmy Dora” has tapped the “saga” of the twins Kimmy and Dora to the fullest. A fourth installment will be already “trying very hard.”

Eugene says it’s time to look for other stories.

Dora is the smart girl, summa cum laude, with a cruel heart. Dora is mentally challenged, but with a kind heart. Both characters are played by Eugene.

NEW LEADING MAN – The first “Kimmy Dora” had Dingdong Dantes for leading man and the sequel had Zanjoe Marudo.

The prequel has, of course, a new leading man: Sam Milby.

A perfect choice as the prequel has lots of action scenes, which Sam does best. He welcomes getting rough and dirty… even if his pretty-boy looks seems more right for romantic scenes.

Actually, the leading-man role was meant for Piolo Pascual, one of the producers, but schedule conflict came in the way.

The other producers are Bb. Joyce Bernal, Atty. Joji Alonso, and Edgar Mangahas.

MULTI-AWARDEE – Also in the cast of the prequel is multi-awardee Joel Torre. This year alone, Joel won two awards: one from Cinema One Originals and another from the Pusan (South Korea) International Film Festival for “OTJ.”

“OTJ” also won good reviews in Cannes, the mother of all filmfests.

Eugene and Sam say it’s an honor to be Joel.

But Joel points out that Eugene is also a multi-awardee, the last best actress from the Tokyo International Film Festival for “Lady Barber.”

Sam is a serious and dedicated actor who in time, Joel believes, will get his due recognition.

The prequel is written and directed by Chris Martinez, with Bb. Bernal as film editor.
