Singer Mark Bautista has joined the growing number of celebrities that have put up businesses.
The Kapuso star’s business venture involves a restaurant in Dapitan, Manila.
“Nag-partner ako sa isang businessman na may restaurant malapit sa UST (University of Santo Tomas). Busy sila and nasa States so ako muna ang nag-ooperate,” he told Yahoo! OMG! Philippines.
Despite his erratic showbiz schedule, Mark said he’s hands-on in conceptualizing ideas to improve the restaurant. He’s also planning to enter culinary school to learn the ropes in the kitchen.
“Hanggang seven (in the evening) lang ang operations tapos kapag afternoon, walang masyadong estudyante. During that time kailangan na ako mag isip para maka-attract ng customers,” he shared.
Apart from the restaurant business, the singer has his own line of socks called Footnotes, launched last December 2012.
Mark is presently negotiating with a mall chain for a possible consignment deal to bring his products into the department stores.
Footnotes are “not your ordinary pair of socks,” he shared. It comes embroidered with inspirational messages like “Never Quit” and “Just Breathe.” Some carry statements such as “Persecuted but not forsaken or destroyed. I stand firm,” “Every failure is a necessary step to success,” and many others.
The idea of putting up the said business was inspired by his mother’s advice to put coins in socks to overcome stage fright.
“Little did I know that I would take these coins with me for the rest of my life. It wasn’t just about the coins; it was what the coins reminded me of – my mother’s words, or maybe (there) was the magic in them.
“Now I share the magic with you: through ‘FOOTNOTES’; these socks carry the words and the inspiration that have guided me in my struggles and in my journeys,” he was quoted to have said on Footnote’s website.
