Sarah Gears up for Big Concert

by Crispina Martinez-Belen

It’s been 10 years since Sarah Geronimo shot to fame after winning the popular talent show “Star For A Night.”

Since then, Sarah has blossomed into one of the country’s most versatile and highly successful artists. Sarah is not only a recording star; she is a multi-awarded movie and TV actress as well.

But wait, there’s more. Sarah shines as a concert performer, and her shows have time and again packed such celebrated venues as the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

To celebrate her 10th year in show business, Sarah is returning to the Big Dome on Nov. 15 for what promises to be the mother of all concerts. The show is titled “Perfect 10,” and Sarah said it’s going to be bigger than her most successful concert to date, “24/SG.”

Tickets to “Perfect 10” will start selling today, Aug. 27, on TicketNet and at Viva Concerts. By the way, Sarah has just returned from a four-city concert tour in Australia. She opened the tour on Aug. 10 at the Evan Theatre in Sydney.

Recently, Sarah also broke new ground, producing an album for Viva Records titled “Expressions.” Most of the 11 tracks in “Expressions” are originals with some written by Sarah herself.

‘San Pedro Calungsod’ Will Inspire The Youth

“San Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martir,” an official entry to the 39th Metro Manila Film Festival in December 2013, aims to increase awareness on the life of the young Filipino saint martyred in the name of the Christian faith.

But the film won’t be just about San Pedro Calungsod’s martyrdom, as it will also be about the role he played in the San Diego Mission to the Mariana Islands (Guam) led by Fr. Diego Luis de San Vitores between 1668 and 1672. It will show what virtues he practiced to serve the propagation of Christianity at a time of paganism, doubt and disbelief.

How this young soldier of Jesus Christ fought for the conversion of the Chamorro natives to Christianity and his unquestionable obedience and loyalty to the Mission Superior (Fr. San Vitores) is the core of the forthcoming film, the result of two years of research by De La Salle University History-Political Science graduate Francis O. Villacorta who directs it.

Francis says, “Young people today can learn a lot from the heroic life of San Pedro Calungsod. What a fascinating study of a young life all too willingly given up for the love of our Savior. Because in the end, I believe, our lives on earth is all a preparation for our reunion with Him, our Creator.”

“San Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martir,” produced by HPI Synergy Group in association with Wings Entertainment, stars Rocco Nacino, Christian Vasquez, Jestoni Alarcon, Ryan Eigenmann, Robert Correa, Alvin Aragon, Victor Basa, BJ Forbes, Carlo Gonzalez, Arthur Solinap, Mico Palanca, Cholo Barretto, Geoff Taylor, Johann Santos, Isadora Valasquez, Ruby Ruiz, Mercedes Cabral and others.

Bryan Termulo, A Fast-Rising Star

Star Magic artist Bryan Termulo has not been lacking in projects (TV or singing) even as he continues his studies.

Bryan (full name Bryan Brylle Cruz Termulo) said, “’Andun ako sa side na anytime baka mawala ang career ko kaya bago siya mawala I should have a degree that will last. In my present career, gusto ko siyempre maraming teleserye ako, maraming songs to come for me to sing in shows and hopefully to record, and every year sana, I have concerts to do. But my long-term plan, of course, is to graduate from college and have a fallback whatever happens to my showbiz career.”

During his recent contract signing as the newest brand ambassador of BNY Unltd, Bryan proudly announced that he intends to finish his studies.

Asked what sets him apart from other artists, Bryan said good naturedly “It’s hard to compare. Alam kong mag-perform na masa-satisfy ang mga tao. May singer kasi na vocally magaling, pero as they perform, medyo kulang. Ako kasi I see to it na sa stage presence pa lang may appeal at rapport na agad sa audience at pati sa host. ’Di lang kanta..”

Being a fast-rising star, how does he handle the pressure of being in the limelight? “It has never been a pressure for me. But if ever madali lang, just find time to do things properly. Learn to organize and arrange your schedules.”

A BWB Records artist, Bryan’s idols are Jason Mraz, Maroon 5, and Michael Bublé.
